List of common misconceptions talk page: Widening roads does not ease traffic congestion entry Latest comment: 2 hours ago This entry was recently added: Widening roads does not ease traffic congestion. In fact widening roads and building new roads increases traffic through the effect of Induced demand.[1] I'm not seeing anywhere in the topic article or the cite where this is described as a common misconception. Could someone point out the language that does that? Mr. Swordfish (talk)

But look at this interesting new addition to the talk page!

To me, and I guess to anyone who has ever talked about the problem with roads with anyone, it seems totally self evident that "widening roads eases congestion" is an extremely common misconception! But Wikipedia needs sources, and I really respect them for that.

I'm sure someone here can help with that. A link to some sort of study on people's attitudes towards widening roads, for example? @notjustbikes, or someone in #Urbanism?
