   recently we discussed kagi search engine which is paid search engine giving you better results and tooling. as subscriber i was asked is it worth it? which is traditional reddit trope.

   trying an experiment, i tried search results for various terms in all of the big-data corpo engines and kagi won every time.

   the free account is 300 searches for you to try. however one can exhaust this in a few hours depending on their search skillset and objective.

   so, yes it's worth it.

     @Moon @threat @ghast I'm unsure if I'd call it Google at its peak. Google at its peak was around 2010 to 2014 or something like that and it was insane to use. Nowadays it degraded so much that you probably don't remember how amazing it used to be

     @threat Honestly I never used it but I have personally been curious of it tbh.
     
     On one hand, A search engine that's actually really good from what I heard as it is truly privacy based. On the other hand, There's a fee behind it and if you want to access it and have to use an account.
     
     To me, I don't know if I should really dwelve into it as a subscription based service tends to turn me off, But I understand if it is worth it for the other aspects.

     if there's concerns about your ip being traced. the omfgip trope is dead and buried. i cannot speak for your threat model, but for my own kagi is an asset vs liability

     To me, I don't know if I should really dwelve into it as a subscription based service tends to turn me off, But I understand if it is worth it for the other aspects.

     ov course i encourage everyone to dig their own grave. but it's accelerated my work and research by a factor of 6.66
