The real issue is people starting with a solution instead of their problem. But I thought ConvNets have been great for bird and plant identifying mobile apps.
This tech has real uses. It's just unclear that dialogue systems is the best way to be selling it

@emilygorcenski It reminds me a lot of how people were adamant blockchain technology could have a valid use case, "it just hasn't been found yet", despite the fact it was by then well over a decade since blockchain technology was invented.
Not all inventions serve a purpose. Something is not useful because it's novel. Not all tech is good.
