So the 352x288 format is actually a standard!
It's CIF--the "Common Intermediate Format" which is part of H.261 and was meant of video teleconferencing; it dates back all the way to 1988.
And if you think that's way to high resolution, you can always use QCIF or SQCIF, at 176x144 or 128x96 respectively. No one needs to see those skin pores or even that skin.
