It’s amazing that we used to write templates for online shops as one-person gigs no 10 years ago, but now making an accessibility change takes a team and a project manager.
Sure, technology got more complicated, but this is ridiculous!

@yatil You can still do that, people just choose to make work hard on themselves for no reason.
If anything, especially web development has gotten easier with browsers being more compatible and supporting more APIs out of the box (the complicated is from the framework cruft you don't need).
@yatil @thomasfuchs Lived experience confirms all of this. 👆🏻
@yatil @thomasfuchs Also, spoiler: It is not, I repeat NOT, the technology driving this - it’s poorly executed product management in 100% of the cases.
@drwhitt @yatil well yeah, either the management lets developers do whatever they want (and they happily get excited and bake layer cake) or they demand from the developers to use hype tech
@thomasfuchs Yes, exactly. Sometimes I want to say: Just give me access to your templates, I’ll rewrite them to proper HTML in two hours, fixing all issues. But that is also not useful, because it only fixes the symptoms.
