@AngryWraith@noyoushutthefuckupdad When I fully refurbished my house last year I smashed and threw away all my retro games and anime it probably lost me thousands but the Joy of knowing it would make nerds cry was priceless
I just put debian cli on a rock pi x, installed xorg, but no desktop, and made a script where it boots to a menu that allows you to choose between openarena and retroarch (which run solo in x11). The menu times out after five seconds, in which case it defaults to retroarch. Upon exit from either game, you get five seconds to press any key to get back to the main menu or it shuts down. Gonna add other stand-alone games soon. Nerds stay winning.
@Humpleupagus@AngryWraith@noyoushutthefuckupdad The truth is I binned all my retro shit as you don't need it anymore as it only rots away and these days with emulation you don't need that useless tatt taking up space
You really don't. I have a dell optiplex micro in my livingroom with an i7 and 16gb ram running kde plasma and a couple of 8bitdo controllers. I can play anything an OG gamer would want to play on that. It'll even run castlevania for the PS3, and with Intel gfx.
Plus it has a full desktop and kde connect, so I can do anything else I want on it too, e.g. kodi, and run everything from my phone. I rarely even have to touch a keyboard or mouse.
@Humpleupagus@AngryWraith@noyoushutthefuckupdad I have two Pie 3s one in a Megadrive case and another in a Snes case they do everything I need the only Retro systems I won't get rid of are my Amiga and my STE
@Humpleupagus@AngryWraith@noyoushutthefuckupdad Amigas are only going up in price I have a 600 and a 1200. If you buy an Amiga you need a bit of basic soldering skill as they often need re capping. If you don't want spend a fortune the STE is a good stand in and costs half as much but what always held the Amiga and STE back from greatness was the lack of support for a good gamepad rather than a one button joystick
