Surprised that I ended up binging 16 episodes of this in a week! (For me that's fast OK lol). I wanted to write a funny Substack issue about how I am enjoying Chinese propaganda just to poke the bear lol.
Yes, it depicts China's justice system in a mostly favourable light, but they also show the loud disapproval of the public over some decisions & how the judges are personally conflicted (and at times mentally stressed) by their decisions and the public's reaction.

@liztai I wonder why this drama hasn't been made available on international platforms? Perhaps they don't think it will attract an international audience? But it has good actors and if it works as propaganda, why not? It might turn up on Viki at some point...

@Sollenbum tbh I don't think it's China stopping streaming platforms from picking it up. I don't think they care two hoots about international distribution, especially with each episode getting BILLIONS of views.
It's more like international platforms are not interested. I think they are often dismissed as propaganda, which is a crying shame as a) as if the West doesn't have propaganda in their dramas b) it offers a valuable look at China society.
But still, Mango made it available on Youtube!
