@apophis @gwit @AdrianRiskin The defence I hear of the exploitation and unequal exchange is that the gain in wealth for poor people meant a decrease in poverty and thus an increase in quality of life.

(Ignoring of course that capitalism and colonialism were the causes of the poverty in the first place 🤦♂️)
