     @Christmas_Man @YeetLibs @yockeypuck you could do this; a lot of small engine repair guys will use electric drills to test start stuff.
     
     You could just take a cue from this and put an air tool where the starter goes, maybe keep the bendix.

     @pinemarten @Christmas_Man @YeetLibs @yockeypuck yeah, lots of ways to start engines. The pony motors on some of the older diesel equipment is wild, they would be used to not only provide the start, but they would preheat intake air and coolant.

     Emergency diesels on our ship were air start, they were practically identical to locomotive engines. Sounded like the biggest pneumatic drills you ever heard when we did the daily open compression blowdowns.
