@mrsaturday while I don't agree with it I can understand that they'd circle the wagons for their own. What makes this infuriating is the fact that instead of trying to be as discreet and low level as possible, now they're making a huge fucking deal out of this, wanting apologies from Japan, and wanting him to get promoted.
I don't think he even got demoted or anything, he's still somehow in the Navy. BUT THEY WANT MORE. It's genuinely mindboggling what the angle is. He got off with the lightest slap on the wrist, got paid while held, got reshored, and now his supporters are asking for apologies from Japan and his promotion to be reinstated.

@denza252 That tracks. The military has a history of covering for servicemen that hurt foreigners while off-base, and they're definitely not going to let anything happen to an officer.

Wow, just found out about this whole shit with some retarded navy officer called Alkonis who murdered 2 people in Japan, then had his idiot supporters manage to get him off the hook for said murders. But on top of Alkonis getting off the hook for murdering 2 people and getting away with it and being returned to the US for some reason, the bloodthirsty gaggle of retards who support him weren't just satisfied with making a mockery of the rule of law. No, now they want him to be promoted despite being a criminally negligent, homicidal, third rate excuse of an officer.
Can't make this shit up
