I always overthink flying, but I really don’t fly very often. What are your flight/TSA tips? (Especially for flying while Trans)

The names on my ticket and ID match, my ID photo reasonably matches what I look like now, and I just make sure to tuck well before going into the line so that, if I'm frisked, there aren't surprises. If someone sees the name on the ID and thinks that's not a woman's name, I just say "That's my name," and I don't offer any elaboration.

I'm often asleep shortly after takeoff. There's really nothing much to think about. At one point, I was doing 2 coast-to-coast flights a week for months.

IMHO, the only downside to the window is having to climb over people if you want to get up, so I typically watch how much liquid I take in when I fly. Again, I'm usually doing my best to sleep, so that's not so hard. I sleep like behbeh on plane.

Doctor Deathray (doctordeathray@retro.social)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2024 03:57:57 JST Doctor Deathray @roadriverrail thanks! I didn’t have any issues when I flew in September. But I always overthink things. I’ve got a window seat on two of my flights. An aisle on a couple. Anything but the middle

Kit Rhett Aultman (roadriverrail@signs.codes)'s status on Friday, 19-Jan-2024 03:59:55 JST Kit Rhett Aultman @DoctorDeathray I had moved to Atlanta, but my job in SF hadn't approved me for remote work yet. So, every Sunday or Monday, I'd catch a plane to SF, live out of a suitcase and on friends' couches, and then catch a plane back to Atlanta on Friday night. I'd see my partners for like 36 hours, then do it all over again. I call it my "white collar hobo era".
