@MK2boogaloo @Zerglingman I don't have much to say :retardsip: just that I think fedi social games would be cool :retard:

@eidolon @MK2boogaloo That makes sense. It still fails pretty much every game design metric, except that there's generally less pre-game bias. But, yeah, it's fun and that's the only important metric. Just don't take it too seriously.
(Also I recently realised, at a public quiz night, that "general trivia" basically means celebrities and a dash of political history, AKA celebrities type 2.)

@Zerglingman @MK2boogaloo i think trivia works when it's specific to a fan base like idk transformers trivia, general trivia is trickier. I actually think the format of the TV show Pointless does it the best.

@eidolon @MK2boogaloo Yeah I mean, trivia doesn't really make for a good game to begin with. You throw literally *any* game desgin principle at it and it crumbles. People enjoy it anyway though (see: quiz nights) so whatever.

@Zerglingman @MK2boogaloo actually that wouldn't work since someone could just look up the answers

@Zerglingman @MK2boogaloo what about a game like trivial pursuit, how difficult would that be

@eidolon @MK2boogaloo One thing I started noting in board games a while ago is which ones don't require any hidden information. That is, hidden from other players, rather than hidden from all players. This was because on dicksore it was extremely troublesome to message a player with some portion of game info and keep the rest in channel. On fedi you can do it in-line much more easily (well on my client at least kek), so it's not so big of a deal, but I still note it because it can be relevant in other contexts (eg. matrix, although I wonder if fucking with encryption could manage this).
Some that I want to do (whenever I have a sensible game framework):
- Azul (probably the original, not Stained Glass; It just didn't impress me)
- Splendor (I need to yoink card data)
- ... Something I forgot. I'll figure it out again at some point.
