@CoQ_10@Vril_Oreilly@IAMAL_PHARIUS@Irishblackpilled@dassauerkraut “Uh, the plane got delayed again because… The carbon composite structure was self destructing due to our supplier actually selling us blackened wood shavings hardened up with resin. We’re totally sorry and need another $100,000,000 to get back on track.“
@Vril_Oreilly@IAMAL_PHARIUS@Irishblackpilled@dassauerkraut There are over 1,000 guys in the Air Force waiting to begin flight training due to low availability rates of the T-38. They can't get enough rebuilt engines to keep them flying. Meanwhile, Boeing has screwed up on the T-7A replacement so badly the first ones won't be available until 2027 at the earliest.
The Air Force also has had a shortage of over 2000 pilots for years now too. They can't buy pilots. It's the longest time commitment of any MOS. Its so bad they're offering 50k for pilots to renew their contracts.
@Irishblackpilled@IAMAL_PHARIUS Soon coming is the age where planes no longer fly, but they had identified as having flown and you must pretend that you arrived at your destination.
Flight school has become insanely expensive over the last decade or so. from zero hours to your atp certification, you're looking at probably over 100k now. There are special scholarship funds set up for basically every minority in the US, black student pilots, black women, women, gay men, latinos, etc. But there's zero dollars out there for a White student pilot.
So even without airlines mandating diversity quotas, White males have been completely priced out of the field. White guys are basically forced to do an 8 year stint in the Air Force if they want a free pilots license. But you can't be an Air Force officer without a college degree so....
The other thing they don't tell you is that flight school is almost completely taught by the students. So a student with their commercial license but not enough hours for atp is doing the flights with the private pilot and instrument students. They do it this way because no one can afford to pay mature pilots to be instructors. The skill levels in the field would be decaying anyways just from economic reasons, if DEI initiatives were out of the picture completely.
(I can't speak personally about it, but I've heard its even more expensive in Europe)
