   @MK2boogaloo @Suiseiseki Are you fucking kidding me? I get stuck on this dumpster fire because of an outdated project which is fucking massive and now if I want to use something else I may very well have to build from the ground up because Microcock is trying to get me to suck their dick?

     @Zerglingman Not even shell scripts, it's called GNU make.
     
     One command compile and run with debugging enabled is a `make` or M-x make away with the right makefile.

     @anonymous @Suiseiseki @MK2boogaloo IDEs were a mistake. Wanted to make a one-button compile and run with debugging enabled? We had a tool for that, it was called shell scripts!

     @Zerglingman Make doesn't make compiling convoluted - when software has a makefile, compiling it is just a `make` away.
     
     I even managed to get Java to compile and run properly once by writing a makefile that ran javac.

     @Zerglingman Unless the makefile was autogenerated, looks like skill issue to me really.
     
     It's generally better to read the configure.ac if GNU autoconf is being used to generate the makefile.
