Backed by Warburg money, Paneuropa was the talk of the European elite in the inter-war years.But then Kalergi's well-laid plans were frustrated by a man who, in his view, was no more than a low-born, uneducated, Alpine peasant. It wasn't until almost a decade later that the Count was able to link up with the likes of Winston Churchill and Charles de Gaulle and to--at last--turn Paneuropa into a reality.Given his seeming importance, why is Kalergi so little talked about today?
