     @PeterLG @LindaCollins11 I do consider this very possible at some point, too. Younger, idealistic officers who know what justice once was. I also think we will see an American Caracazo with federal troops deployed to urban centers.

     I have a strong suspicion that military leaders will be giving serious consideration to exactly what "legal order" means.

     I wonder whether a future Trump presidency could trigger the USA's first ever military coup? 🤔

     @PeterLG @LindaCollins11 I am sure Trump imagines it would be something like the 4th Reich. In reality it likely will initially be much more like Putin's Russia, a kinda kleptostan. But yes, it could easily degenerate from there into a full blown gilead / klanistan. Once over the edge, I do not think the US will return to anything like before, not in 10 years, not in a 100.

     That would be a disaster for everybody concerned. The USA would be decimated and the place really would become Gilead.

     @PeterLG @LindaCollins11 at one time Alexander conquered a large area and then built two jewels to cement control over the two then dominant places of science and learning in the world, and gave them his name, too. In the west, in Egypt, we got Alexandria. In the east, a city now so mispronounced it's not even recognized as such anymore; Kandahar.
