@Dicer @Fash-E @striderpod I recall Nintendo initially saying that TotK would take up 18 GB, but they later on managed to squeeze it down to 16. Meanwhile, Western Game Devs casually announce another extra 50 GB being necessary on top of already ridiculous bloat.

@striderpod @Fash-E You assume lazy, but it could be the case they just don't know how to do it anymore. They legit lost the knowledge to compress things

@Dicer @Fash-E Probably right tbh. if it's expected that everyone has a high-capacity hdd, why bother compressing?

@striderpod @Fash-E Look at Zelda: TotK, I don't think they have a disk for it but the Japs still compressed it to just 16.3GB, looking better than a lot of steam games made on Unity and Unreal, tho still worse than BotW somehow, and for something that was designed to work on a console, it runs better, works better, it's an overall better product than 98% of western games.
You can say TotK is a 6/10 game and I can't disagree with someone who isn't interested in more of the same from BotW but as a product, as a game shipped, it's miles better than other tripleA releases.
We know modern games are slop, half because they are made by leftist ideologues half because they are incompetent.

@Fash-E I remember hearing once that it's because space limits aren't really a thing anymore. Back in the day if you made a super nintendo game (for example) you had to compress the shit out of things for everything to fit on the cartridge. Game devs are lazy hacks who don't care about shit anymore. I want to go back
