BG3 did the impossible making a blockbuster out of a dead genre while also weighed down with IP holders that pissed off their entire fanbase. In fact they were so successful said IP holder just started laying off all their staff to try to become an IP mill for video games, but they won’t be able to make the magic strike twice.
It was also a great game because it gave the player insane amounts of agency along with great performances at the same time. Likely will be hard to ever top even decades down the line as the same confluence was highly unlikely again. It was pure fan service for good or bad, but the way you played the game made it a tailored experience more or less.
