   Did Bernie Sanders' open source his software that powered his campaign financing?

   Could be good software to enable other like minded politicians to run campaigns outside of the control of super PACs and the billionaires?

     @thisismissem Did Sanders open source any of his campaign software?

     One common problem is that stuff will get 'open sourced' aka thrown up on github but not maintained going forward. The cyclical nature of campaigns means there's no one to do the work for long periods (1, 2, even 4 years between campaigns) and prog tech is generally under-resourced. Plus a lot of the big players in the space are proprietary (or even private equity funded, sob)

     @thisismissem For political fundraising on the progressive side would do well to integrate into ActBlue…and it has an open API and webhook support https://secure.actblue.com/docs/third_party_integrations

     Aside: would a political financing / crowdfunding piece of software be a good thing for the Fediverse?

     I don't know if you'd want an account on each platform though, just to make a contribution.. but maybe a feed of donations & getting tagged in your contribution would make sense, allowing you to boost it to your followers?
