   From my recent road trip down the US west coast to Palm Springs, CA. We drove through Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt County, CA, flanked by miles of California Redwoods. Such a privilege to experience these giants in person! We are small.

     @shansterable Avenue of the Giants (northern CA) should be on everyone's bucket list. I went to school at Humboldt State and there is just nothing like standing among giant redwoods! Course I was seriously high most of the time but I digress..... Some trees that were hit by lightening have carve outs so huge the native americans used them to house livestock and yes you can drive your car through a couple of them as well! A cross section was shipped to England in the 1800's to show how big the trees are; no one believed the slabs were not a hoax.

     When I visited them in the 1990s, my friend and I drove my Toyota Tercel through one of them!

     What a beautiful area to grow up in. We loved the Victorian homes in downtown Eureka.

     @shansterable actually I grew up in Los Angeles; one semester at Humboldt state and I was hooked on redwoods! Now I live in Oregon and hope to do the avenue of the giants someday again.
