     @Dave_von_S @j4yc33 @bhawthorne @jerry oh indeed, the 2nd American Republic. No, they will call it the third one for "various" reasons; the civil war confederacy will be celebrated as the 2nd one. Each year a speech will be given at the soon to be new Clarence Thomas federal building, too...

     @Dave_von_S @j4yc33 @bhawthorne @jerry the US will exit the 21st century much like it entered the 20th, where most people do not have access to electricity or infrastructure where they live. Disease and hunger will be common, access to public education often controlled by churches, but hey, the stock market will be well over 100k!

     @Dave_von_S @j4yc33 @bhawthorne @jerry there will be cities where only the wealthy, and those servants with the proper chip implant, are permitted in. The regular army will be used to police the streets in armed sweeps of urban centers at night. This part is not speculative fiction, though; I had already seen a version of this kind of dystopia, in San Paulo.
