     Which is why I decided to #DoBetter than #TheBadSpace instead, because that blocklist was and is an irredeemable shitshow with so many #FalsePositives that it's just not rational to explain except as @are0h@h-i.social 's personal vendetta list because someone from any instance listed disagreed with him...

     For example @admin have their instance-wide #blocklist published.

     @kkarhan @Gargron @evan @FediPact That has the problem of (possibly) authoritarian admins making far-reaching decisions for “their” users. I bet that 90+% of users on instances with more than 1000 users don’t know which users/instances are blocked by their admins. And that admins don’t observe statistics on which users/instances “their” users block. I’m not saying that’s necessarily a bad thing. Just stating the obvious reality.

     But that reality also contains the solution. It starts with one self. Only post things you would happily shout out in a public place filled with people you don’t know. That mental image helps at least me a lot. And from that follows to switch to services that do NOT rely on interaction to fuel ad networks and VC (Venture Capitalism) pockets. That’s the tough part. And #activitypub based services could be the basis for that better ecosystem if done right.

     This is because undirected interaction is key to these companies. And radical content reliably delivers more interaction. Unfortunately that mechanism has also spread to editors of reputable news outlets, leading to more radical and less nuanced content that feature extremely aggressive headlines. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy, fueled by human nature decoupled from actual physical interaction. On the internet we say things we never would say in person.

     @kkarhan Even if you block a user after they've posted an unhelpful reply, others will still see the reply. It's only you that won't see it. They won't be able to post more replies, either, but that doesn't help with the reply that's already there. @jwildeboer @Gargron @evan@cosocial.ca
