   Our Mom was German, Dutch before WW2. I am 70 now, youngest of 5.
   I was the only one sharing her love for Music , Food and Culture. On " amateur -level". Grew up with Hollywood and British, film, but it was a Chinese/Canadian forumcontact living in Seoul in 2009 who put me on Korea. Still there .
   And still learning: Implementing Korean/Asian basics in our food- style made me lose 30 kilos last 10 years..

   ( Watched 2004 Dae Jang Geum 6 times by now 🙂)

     @Hanktank That goes to show that love of Asian culture is born of many other things than DNA.

     Like you I grew up on a diet of American / British / European films but during the pandemic discovered my love of Asian, especially #Cdrama.

     I exist in the odd limbo of looking Asian but not really being Korean at all. However, I'm not completely European either.

     @Hanktank Thank you for giving me a quick encouragement to keep going.

     Although I'm ethnically Korean, I mostly feel alienated from Korean culture. It sounds as if this drama will enable to some insight into my roots.

     I usually prefer #Cdrama because it allows me to be Asian but with an excuse for why I don't quite understand the cultural references 😄

     "Rivers deep, mountains high", I would say. The story is fictional, but the background is realistic, in a time the Joseon monarchy was not at it's strongest point, so to say.
     The fate of the Korea peninsula, squeezed between major powers.

     The acting is above average !

     ( But that is normal in Korean drama: Korean acting is often above average 🌟)

     ( By the way , the hashtag Kdrama is very much alive these days, with people from all over the world posting )

     Haven't been able to decide which drama to watch next. I have the sense that some really good #Cdramas will drop soon and for some reason, I haven't quite been feeling the dramas I tried to start.

     So now I'm trying a #Kdrama, "My Dearest" 🌸

     Has anyone watched it? Does it live up to the hype?
