   Got interested in seeing if there are any Open Source 4X games, and the search engine took me to Itch.

   itch.io/games/downloadable/fre…

   It's only showing two games, but that's because the Open Source tag isn't applied very consistently. Unciv Magic is tagged, but not Unciv, which is on Itch, is obviously the upstream of Unciv Magic, and is under the MPLv2.

   Is there a fun Open Source realtime 4X game? Less Civ, more StarCraft?

     @clacke If you’re looking for StarCraft-like game, I believe you would get more hits using the “RTS” label rather than “4X”.

     "At Odds" is the other game that was in OSS 4X. It is also under RTS:

     Elite vibes! I went down this road because we were talking ... I was talking ... about Elite, and continued to StarCraft from there.

     Ok, this resonates with me.
