“Let the voters decide,” conservatives are screaming as some states remove Donald Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. Funny thing about that.
They didn't let voters decide when they went to court in 2000 to stop the recount in Florida, handing the election to Bush.

They don't want to let voters decide as they gerrymander districts to disenfranchise minority voters, losing court challenges in Alaska, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, South Carolina and elsewhere.
They didn't want to let voters decide in Ohio, where 57% of voters approved a 2023 referendum to codify abortion rights, but right-wing state legislators proposed stripping the Ohio Supreme Court of judicial review on the issue to prevent it from becoming law.
