There are folk local to me who are furious because unspecified other people didn't volunteer to open up a "community building" that is closed for the holidays. They don't want to take any responsibility to do it themselves, but they are absolutely raging that no one else was available to drop everything, leave their own families and make their way through the storm to serve them hot tea because their power went off. Entitled wankers

Mrs Cloudy (cloudymrs@mastodon.scot)'s status on Thursday, 28-Dec-2023 19:21:23 JST Mrs Cloudy @MadeyeTheCarnaptious it is absolutely unbelievable. I'm glad I'm out of it, too. Folk have a very weird view about what other people should be doing for their comfort. They aren't quiet about making demands either. It's absolutely horrible to know you're the target of pointed comments and terribly unfair to generally overworked staff who were looking forward to a few days rest.

It's the level of service folk demand from them that isn't. Very easy to take folk for granted and to expect the unrealistic to be delivered. All without ever thinking to say thank you for the time and effort good people provide.

Wen (wen@mastodon.scot)'s status on Thursday, 28-Dec-2023 23:43:51 JST Wen @MadeyeTheCarnaptious @CloudyMrs a little strong. Worked/ing with a couple of very good, effective and caring charities. They seem to change as they become ‘professionalised’ though.
