   You are right, of course: it's really just a fancier cruise control. My issue is that it's marketed very differently.

   It's not called "advanced cruise control" or anything like that, it's called "Full Self-Drive (Beta)". From the marketing, it would be very easy to believe that it can be used on all types of streets and roads, when that is clearly not the case. It is not even close to being ready for driving on city streets.

     @notjustbikes Yes, in my experience autopilot is a good and useful cruise control (if you don't do foolish things with it), but I've long since given up on the idea that 'full self-driving' is going to be a usable thing during the lifetime of my car. Glad I didn't pay for that option!
     There are, however, some reasonably impressive videos of it in use online. I think it only really works between Redwood City and Pasadena, though. 😊
