I would also like to offer up a BIG shoutout to all those people who keep chanting "deplatforming fascists is antidemocratic and doesn't work."

I've been watching Tucker Carlson drift into "only relevant on 4chan" while putting out shows about Aliens and hanging out with Kevin Rapey doing interviews in his House of Cards character and wondering when y'all were gonna come back and take that L.

Fascism isn't politics and nazis surrendered their humanity card already. You play to win.

@AnarchoNinaWrites There is one platform I’d like to give fascists, though.

@AnarchoNinaWrites this is a helpful Tucker update bc I've been thinking about how much makes sense to be concerned about his being the VP pick (by a mile) in the TPUSA straw poll at their recent Nazi convention in Phoenix -- like on the one hand the party is in shambles, and simultaneously I don't think it's at all out of the realm of possibility this happens

@kiwi I mean if they win, it'll be because they cheated and rigged the election. It's just that we live in a country where EVERY election is rigged for rich white nazis so I dunno that it matters. Yes, they COULD win. No they will NEVER have a popular mandate but Amerikkka does not require one for a fascist police state to function.

@AnarchoNinaWrites oh completely agree regardless of who the VP pick is, I was more thinking about TC's particular talent at whipping up the bloodlust and how that might direct what happens before the election

@kiwi Well, I'd love to tell you that it's not gonna happen because Tucker is a desperate loser but that actually describes about 3/4 of the Nazi high command and Hitler himself so... yeah... not awesome.

@aud @AnarchoNinaWrites So much this! 👆 The core fallacy of the "marketplace of ideas" theory is that marketplaces *always* result in garbage where the worst is the most successful. The problem is that 90% of the audience we need to understand that "marketplace of ideas" is bs isn't ready to accept the broader reality about marketplaces. 🤦

@AnarchoNinaWrites@jorts.horse Also, "defeat them in the marketplace of ideas!" 1. Stop huffing pure capitalist propaganda (which has been very effective on you! Interesting), and 2. The nazis literally won in the "marketplace of ideas", because much like actual marketplaces it's not about the quality of the argument, it's about whatever dumb fuck screams about their shit the loudest.

@AnarchoNinaWrites@jorts.horse "deplatforming nazis doesn't work" is such horseshit. Were that true, the corollary would be that Nazis don't need a platform to be successful, which would mean that propaganda doesn't need to be heard to work...

... which is fucking ridiculous, because propaganda is all about repeating a message loudly, repeatedly, and as frequently as possible, and that is ENTIRELY about the degree of reach it has. "Deplatforming fascists doesn't work" citation fucking needed, buddy, and show your work, because you've gotta basically prove that the Nazi state didn't successfully use propaganda to convince the citizenry.
