What I don’t get is, even if your chance of getting permanently disabled from COVID is only say 1%—WHY IN THE EVER-LOVING FUCK WOULD YOU RISK THAT IF ALL IT TAKES IS WEARING A MASK SOMETIMES
How did we survive this far as humans, seriously

@johnefrancis that’s fair
@thomasfuchs people fall off cliffs and drown in rivers all the time. We aren't that smart.
@samhainnight yes, see my earlier post today with cumulative probability, it’s not a question if you get disabled, just when you do.
@thomasfuchs What's really scary is the likelihood of getting Long Covid is closer to 1 out of 10 infections. It's like Russian Roulette. And every time you catch Covid again, you spin that barrel.
@thomasfuchs masking depends on people too much and isn't as effective as decent air filter systems.. as with all PPE it's the last layer of defense. I'm baffled why governments and employers haven't widely deployed hepa filters and improved ventilation in every office, school and hospital as it would massively reduce not only covid but flu, colds and norovirus.. saving a fortune in lost working days... maybe its just the UK penny pinching but seems to be widespread
@geordie The chance is actually around 10%.
@thomasfuchs because the chance is nowhere near that high?
