    #Threads is owned by #meta who have always been worse than #twitter at #contentmoderation

    Why anyone remains on #threads or #x at this point is odd to me. Why? Because I think we risk our emotional safety (& #privacy ) on ANY social network - especially those run by a #corporation or #monopoly.

    I’ve been on the #Fediverse for about a year or so now and have found it a welcome surprise. Kind engaging folks, even when disagreeing.

      Wave of anti-trans attack in progress on #threads - someone has figured out to game the algorithm so it's in a high proportion of people's “For You” feeds. Not clear if it's a moderation failure or if Threads is ok with this stuff.

      @thetechtutor @timbray Instagram actually graded a good deal better than Twitter by GLAAD, and was better than all other major social nets on safety and moderation: “IG at 63 percent, received the highest score in the report. There is still, however, room for improvement, and social media companies must work harder to promote civil discourse and strengthen policies that protect LGBTQ people & others from hate and harassment, the GLAAD report concluded.” https://thehill.com/policy/technology/4051340-major-social-media-platforms-failing-to-keep-lgbtq-users-safe-watchdog/amp/

      @thetechtutor @rawrmonstar @timbray Fully agree, David on the Fediverse as the best, safest, most user centric social home by far!

      @rawrmonstar @tchambers @timbray

      While I’m glad to hear that #instagram rated better, they’re still owned by #meta, a company I don’t trust for #contentmoderation or #data #privacy

      There is no solution I know of that makes sense more than the #Fediverse for giving people safe communities of like-minded humans AND also providing access to those outside the local server.

      And there’s no algorithm or ads?!? It’s a win-win-win-win!

      @tchambers @thetechtutor @timbray now they inject transphobic content from Threads directly into my Instagram feed. I don’t even have a Threads account and I can’t turn it off. It’s actively harmful but I’m sure the algorithm thinks it’s great due to “engagement” or some bs
