   Substack's leadership is engaging in "normative sociology," which, Robert Nozick joked, is "the study of what the causes of problems ought to be." Nazi ideas are a problem and #Substack *wants* the solution to be platforming (and monetizing) those ideas, so Nazi ideas are exposed more broadly, and receive more criticism. Of course, the data and historical record are overwhelming that this isn't at all the solution, and only makes the problem worse, but Substack has an interest in ignoring that.

     @maxzor @ianbetteridge @arossp if you are so dumb that you can’t distinguish between Nazi content and anti-Nazi content, you should CW your replies for being asinine.

     @ianbetteridge @arossp You don't think CW is appropriate here. But you estimate CW useful for offensive content.
     If I do a basic syllogism, I arrive at the conclusion that you don't find nazi talks offensive. I left twitter in a big part for this. That's not on me an individual reading to make such a filter, this is on people posting. I am not saying that you should not discuss the recent policy mess of substack.

     @maxzor @arossp While I would encourage everyone to use alt text, your request that Aaron use a content warning is completely inappropriate. Content warnings are an incredibly useful tool for flagging content which may be offensive. They are not there so that you can implement an "I don't want to see content about Substack". Mastodon has tools to let you filter out posts with specific words, and I suggest you use them.

     @anildash If you were talking about pro-nazi stuff, I would ask for defederation. You can understand that even anti-nazi talks can be seen as polluting a feed.

     @maxzor “the fediverse” is tens of millions of users, in dozens of languages across hundreds of countries. There is no such norm, this is just your wish and you shouldn’t inflict it on strangers you don’t even follow.

     @anildash This is not someone I follow, it got boosted to my TL.
     See what happens to pedocriminal or rape content in the fediverse : "pro" content is absent and anti-content is covered by content warnings. I ask the same for nazi things.
