Threads is live! Its introduction to the fediverse is not its introduction to the world. There are already tons of activity going on there, and people here in the fediverse has paid attention to how moderation, or lack thereof, has been going on there. Furthermore, Meta has a long history of lacking moderation and that's a good indication for how it will moderate threads.
