@karolherbst "toxic gamer" is completely useless, no one would recognise themselves or others under that title.

@karolherbst Like if somehow maybe it was related to a specific gamer thing it could be used, a bit like how gamers themselves tend to degrade players of a particular game (usually WoW/LoL) also because of learned experience from them.
But that's just not how it ends up being.

@karolherbst Yeah, because until the gaming community figures out a way to either have a subgroup looking particularly good or particularly bad, it's going to end up being a wide target with potential friendly fire.

I'm not saying it's a good situation, but telling people "please don't be mean to gamers" when you could pretty much predict that anyone with a special focus on games in social spaces like bugtrackers ends up being fucking toxic, the callout is not on fucking devs.

@lanodan well.. then there is no point in faulting gamers for anything at all.

So your choices are either to insult half the population or to give up talking about it? I kinda don't see it.

@karolherbst The problem isn't gaming, the problem is gamers, which I very specifically defined and we all know that everyone who plays games isn't a gamer.

@lanodan gaming is part of human culture, and maybe at this point it's not "toxic gamers" but just "toxic" people in general who are the problem.

It's not some niche interest. It's human culture.
