   @ironiridis @xabean "meddler-in-the-middle" is actually nice because it makes it clear that the intercepting party is actively messing with things, as opposed to a passive eavesdropper, even for people who do not know the conventions of calling them "Mallory" and "Eve" respectively.

     @econads @ironiridis @xabean I mean, it was "man as in mankind", but even then it was an analogy — it always referred to an automation acting on behalf of a human rather than a literal human.
