   Hey #Fediverse Hive Mind.

   Am doing some research and want to know if folks can help me confirm the size of the Fediverse (writ large, not just Mastodon based network) in July, 2019.

   Looking for how many registered users, if possible how many active users, and how many servers.

   Need sourcing on that too. Right now best number I have is about 2.2 million registered users. (Maybe)

     @tchambers @mastodonusercount In the chapter "Seven Theses on the Fediverse" (https://monoskop.org/images/c/cc/Mansoux_Aymeric_Abbing_Roel_Roscam_2020_Seven_Theses_on_the_Fediverse_and_the_Becoming_of_FLOSS.pdf) which was written at the end of 2019 we have 3.5M accounts and 5000 instances.

     @tchambers @mastodonusercount Part of the entire point of the Fediverse is that you cannot track it that way, or at least not easily or accurately. It is not only distributed and decentralized, it is fluid and ever-changing. And that is by design.

     @wbpeckham @mastodonusercount #Fedidb now -and a few others like it have been in action all the way back to that time. Best view we have.
