@mel I'm sorry if this isn't incredibly useful, as I think you're in the USA and so not appropriate for anyone I know who's currently staffing... but directly related to that, it's not clear what country or national region you're from and what countries you may be up to work in remotely (e.g. via a business you run).
Sadly we just hired our system admin today that would fill a similar role. Otherwise I could have gotten an interview at least. We may need to hire another one in the near future (~6 months) but may not need to as well.
I can maybe ask around see if someone has something, but I cant think of anything off hand and that would be a long shot for sure.
I may be able to find some personal work for a few hundred here and there to help but sadly nothing even approaching a proper salary or support.
Have you guys tried spamming your resume to every recruiter you can find? Back when i was doing regular employment I found that to be a very effective way. To this day i still get random job offers/interviews in my email a few times a week. Those offers are for software development usually (and i dismiss them), usually senior level. But I suspect it might be equally effective for you if you get your word out to enough of them.
I am using the term spamming very loosely just to mean "to send out to as many recruiters in your field/area as possible".. something they usually welcome.
You may find reaching out to recruiters rather than direct jobs to be far more effective. Every recruiter will constantly be submitting you to new jobs, if you spread a wide enough net they do that work for you and cover a much wider net.
I believe you. I mean i havent needed a recruiter in like a decade. So I cant really speak to the current state of things. People who hire me know about me directly, as are most of those that I hire.
These days, recruiters talk to you about a job, tell you they're going to put you up for the job, and then you never hear back. Even after you message, text, call, and email multiple times.
