Making the opt in/opt out and blocking/muting choices visible in the UI and clear to people as to how they work will be very important so they can make the choices they want in the Fediverse. I think the first principle driving the #Fediverse is giving users choice and agency regarding who they want to connect with and how.

Something as contentious as seeing Threads content should be by consent, which means opt-in not opt-out blocking which is hard to find in the web UI. I tried more than once in the past and gave up, so this move by de facto forces users to see content controlled by the corporation that was for many the reason they built or came to the fediverse to get away from.Federating with #Meta / #Threads is a travesty and will severely damage what the #fedi stands for.
