     @thor @dimi and before the glowing rectangle on the wall people were busy starting at a newspaper, magazine, or book.
     
     Give humans something to entertain or stimulate their minds and they will get helplessly addicted to it. Humans want information, even if it may be useless.

     @dimi ever wonder if you even have a life?

     even your parents mostly relied on a glowing rectangle on the wall much of the time.

     what are you gonna do if the power goes out? churn butter?

     @thor @dimi life isn't better because we force humans to spend all day on menial tasks and manual labor. It really sounds like you feel like your current life experience isn't fulfilling which is a much deeper issue and I genuinely wish you the best.
     
     Please take care of yourself, even if that means for you to make the personal choice to step back from technology that causes anxiety and despair.

     @feld @dimi eh. go back a little further in time than that, and most of the day was spent on useful things, such as washing clothes by hand or churning butter. one might argue that the machines have left us with nothing to do.
