I know we all feel strongly about our various stances, but let's also remember we can agree to disagree, at least on certain topics. You're not going to win anyone over by assaulting them.

And I really don't believe Meta will kill the fediverse, just like Google didn't manage to kill RSS.
I'll keep running my Mastodon instance and follow those who stay here just like many of us still use RSS readers.

The only thing I'd add here is that those who want to defederate from Threads have every right to do so, Facebook/Meta is an awful, awful company.
Those who want to be able to stay in touch with their family and friends who don't wish to join other fediverse platforms (yet) can do so easily.
Heck, you can even start your own fediverse community for $1-2/a month per person, and set your own rules. What a bargain!

@stefan If anything it'll expose more people to Mastodon and the broader Fediverse. With Tumblr also building compatibility to AP, we may see more of thise over time with Mastodon being a major hub for the fediverse overall.
