Here’s a weird thing about my job: most of my social media presence except here and on my private facebook account is part of my job. And yet, explaining that to family and friends “if you know me in real life, PLEASE don’t follow me on my work pages, and if you do DO NOT INTERACT with the posts” is an impossible task. They are always ready to destroy the public image I try to maintain, or to use in jokes, or mention private things that reveal too much about me and my location

Nonya Bidniss 🥥🌴 (nonya_bidniss@mas.to)'s status on Friday, 15-Dec-2023 22:20:14 JST Nonya Bidniss 🥥🌴 @BethanyBlack 🤦♂️ When I decided on anonymity on the internet I initially let a couple of work friends know about an account (years ago, long defunct) and that is exactly the kind of dumb shit they'd do, and I'd have to ask them to delete their post. Lesson was never let anyone I know about any accounts on the internet. Easier for me as a nobody who knows almost nobody, than for you who needs a public presence.
