I'm considering preemptive defederation from Meta/Threads. There are serious arguments for it, like the fact that one can't trust Facebook for ANYTHING.
But I'm also considering reach, because the enshittification of Twitter cost me a chunk of visibility for my books, and that visibility may be the difference between the kids and I eating and being housed in the foreseeable future.
These are the choices late-stage exploitative capitalism forces on artists.

I'd even say, it is too risky for you to endanger your established account here.
It is always better to have several distribution channels.
I would not, however, block the #MetaHordes on an instance level anymore for the reasons @tchambers explained.* Also, because #Threads will counterblock your instance right away, which might be hard to undo afterwards.

As @2ndStar wrote yesterday, it is their policy to always counter-block.
I'd still try right away. The #Fediverse is known for it's slowness regarding synchronization.

It strikes me this is part of an EEE strategy too, tpermanently cut off potentially hostile instances, and hope users feel compelled to move to the ones that do federate with Threads. Though it also wouldn't surprise me if they don't remove the counter-block after some period, especially this early on.

Makes a lot of sense.
However, I can open a new account in a minute, be openly hostile there, and then boost it from this account for visibility in the #Fediverse. #SuckerBerg will never know, as he would be blocking my (fictitious) instance with reach in the #Fedi. 😏
People can continue to talk bad about you, even if you don't hear about it anymore.
So, he won't know what hit him.
