   just watched a youtuber saying Bambi was a boring movie because "when the mom died i felt nothing because she had no character trait" and listen I'm not a fan of Bambi myself but I'm sorry the mother figure in a story about growing up was just a caring mother, guess she deserved to die huh

     @touloutoumou like, there's almost an argument there about assigning her no meaning or agency but to provide a plot hinge, but she's also clearly a symbol of maternal love and protection, and her death that of a loss of innocence. (In this essay, I will...)

     That said, I hate that movie.

     @touloutoumou haha. Exactly that. I love TV Tropes, but in many ways life - and certainly film criticism - was better before it came to be.
