Meta just said they’re starting to test federation on Threads. This is a win for the movement to re-open the social web, where even the most powerful social platform knows that the threat of regulation and the ascendancy of open innovation mean that they have to go with the momentum that’s pushing for open standards.

@anildash Yes, but we need to be vigilant and not let them get away with anything. They have a vision (they even had a conference on this, https://kolektiva.social/@ophiocephalic/111444291212912829) for reshaping the fedi under their governance and surveillance, which we need to forcibly reject and instead make them engage on our terms.
