If you thought crypto and AI are a huge waste of resources, go do the calculations on how much energy, waste, and straight up pollution has been generated by the holiday themed decorations and knick-knacks industry.
How much of this stuff is made in China, shipped to the USA, used for less than a month, and then thrown in the dump?
Answer: most of it.-

Do you think Americans can claim carbon credits for paying for a live Xmas Tree and then burying it in the landfill 45 days later?
Doesn't this solve climate change? We've sequestered millions of pounds of carbon, right? -

Look around your friends groups and family and you'll find tons of people who buy Christmas decorations every year and then throw them away. -

> In Britain, it is estimated that 226,800 miles of wrapping paper is thrown away annually at Christmas.
> In Germany, approximately 100 grams of gift wrapping paper per person are used each year, resulting in up to 8,000 tons of gift wrapping paper waste.
> In Canada, gift packaging and paper shopping bags generate 540,000 tons of packaging waste annually. Due to recycling challenges, most gift wrapping paper made from various materials ends up in landfills.
> During the Christmas season in the United States, an additional 5 million tons of waste are generated, with up to 4 million tons consisting of various gift packaging and gift papers.

@Edelruth find someone who lives in an apartment and has limited storage for crap like seasonal decorations. Only a psychopath would pay for a storage unit just for Christmas decorations. -

Most people I know have fake trees and use the same decorations seasonally, and have for decades, so I don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
Besides, you'd hate Christmas even if it reduced waste, so cut the "it's about the planet or bitcoin" bulllshit.
You know what causes a waste of resources? Faggots. So you should help reduce waste by killing yourself. -
