Okay. Fess up. Who did this?
Post-Brexit and under Conservative rule though, it is fair comment.

@MartinVeart Wikipedia Vandalism is admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine.
“In 2009, Janis Joplin's page was edited to state that she ‘speed-walked everywhere and was afraid of toilets’ in an obscure reference to US sitcom 30 Rock.”
@ammdias @MartinVeart @wikipedia Yes we are obligated to say of course we do not condone Wikipedia vandalism. And when, er I mean if, I do snicker at these things it is a bit of a guilty pleasure for exactly this reason. But I am far too circumspect to admit whether I snickered at this one or not.
@MartinVeart
It's funny. But Wikipedia is one of the greatest collective achievements of humankind and probably the best thing Web 2.0 gave us. Maybe we should stop vandalizing it.

The Wikipedia page about the North Atlantic Garbage Patch has been protected against vandalism
@herrschwarz In general they will read out the file name. With additional effort of saving the file, going to the saved file, starting up the text extraction it may be possible to get it to read the text. So most of the time a blind user will not go through it - in particular if they don't know that it is a mostly text picture in the first place.
In summary: Always include the text in the alt text.
@GreenSkyOverMe I assumed screen readers can interprete text on images like even my shitty iOS can. Don’t they? That is what the image shows.
@herrschwarz And iOS is one of the best OSes regarding accessibility, by the way
@herrschwarz I have tried it on the iPhone and you are right, if I wait a bit after reading out the file name it will actually read the text in this one without going through saving it.
You can listen to it here.
It’s not optimal. Partially because your post language is set to German. But even in English I‘m not sure the point that it is protected will become clear.
@herrschwarz Ja, das hatte ich erwähnt.
@GreenSkyOverMe https://youtu.be/kSC_IoD-Bxw So klingt der Screenreader bei englischem Text und deutscher Betonung…
