   Calling for the genocide of Jewish people is unacceptable. That’s a given.

   So too is the state of Israel systematically killing and displacing Palestinians.

   The problem with the way Elise Stefanik – someone who voted against certifying President Biden's win in Pennsylvania – framed the question to the presidents of UPenn, MIT, and Harvard is that it implies there are more calls for antisemitic genocide than the actual genocide of Palestinians the state of Israel is current carrying out.

     The whataboutism isn’t in contextualising Stefanik’s reductive question but rather Stefanik’s question itself.

     There have been calls for the eradication of Palestinians from this mortal coil and the Israeli government have acted upon those calls since 1948 at the very least.

     Surely there can be no comparison between the actual murder of at least 16,015 people and calling for the mass murder of an indiscriminate number of people?

     The latter can make the environment conducive to a hate crime. The former means the hate crime is already happening.
