     @ryanhoulihan Yeah, just going "more jobs created" without realizing that these jobs aren't necessarily good jobs and that people are losing good jobs at an alarming rate as corporations slash staff as they seek even higher profits is, well, being incredibly out of touch. People who have never really been poor or faced with homelessness have no idea of what it's like (and, no, eating ramen at uni because buying beer is higher on your desire list isn't the same as being poor).

     @ryanhoulihan @amaditalks We could start with doing the bare minimum:

     1. Hold a primary election, as the Democrats did in 2012.

     2. Acknowledge rather than ignore the ongoing pandemic, and make a sincere effort to fight it. Educate the public about long covid instead of pretending everything is fine. Apologize for saying things like, "If you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask."

     3. Stop supporting the genocide in Gaza.

     @ryanhoulihan I think it’s important that if we’re going to talk publicly about these things that we have something more to say than just everything is bad, as well as an understanding of who should be held accountable for what, at a minimum.

     @pixplz @ryanhoulihan there is going to be a primary, several people are running, they just can’t win. But you can’t make people run.

     We’re not going to get government action on Covid again. The whole world is done with it.

     We have a formal alliance with Israel, which means our response has to strike a very fine balance that is unlikely to please the left, but is weighed to avoid regional war, if not worse. There are no good answers that are fast.

     @amaditalks @ryanhoulihan How do you know we're not going to get government action on covid? Can you predict the future? Doesn't it depend on what we the people do to put pressure on our elected representatives? And what do you mean by "the whole world is done with it"? Is the virus done with us?

     @pixplz @ryanhoulihan I mean that every health agency around the planet has decided that this is no longer a priority, and it is extraordinarily unlikely that the US government is going to reverse course on that when they’d be standing alone. It’s not a good thing, but it’s the thing.
