    The #GooglePlayStore app started blocking purchases if the reported IP address is different from your #Google account's country setting.

    What if you're traveling? 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

    Someone's not thinking properly. They just made life harder for those who travel a lot. #EpicFail #Fail

      @youronlyone or use a VPN which is going to become increasingly important for more people in coming months and years

      @wiredfire Yep, it's the only way currently. Though, I'm suspecting they're going to block it too soon.

      @cienmilojos @wiredfire

      They already added restrictions to changing your Country setting.

      * You can only do it once every 12 months.

      * If you do change, you have to re-add your payment options (if you haven't set it up before). You need a card with the correct local address (as per your Country setting) to add it. Currently, PayPal can bypass that.

      * VPN, I won't be surprised if they start blocking it too. I already tried one, even though it's set to the same country I have on my account, it was still rejected. A less known VPN I tried worked. So, I guess it's a matter of time.

      Yeah. They should at least provide a temporary option.

      Personally, I think it has less to do with security and more to do with combatting taking advantage of relative pricing. In the early days of Play Store:

      * People used VPNs to get a better price. They later disabled checking the IP address for Google Play pricing.

      * Then people started changing their Google account's Country and adding any global cards. Google later added card address restriction.

      * It did not work well, so Google added the 12-month Country-change restriction later.

      I guess they still don't like the current situation so now they check the IP address if it matches the Country on the Google account. 😅

      At least, that's what I'm thinking.

      @youronlyone yeah this is inconvenient but it's also a security measure.

      I'm sure there are ways to mitigate this. @wiredfire said VPN, that is one. Temporarily changing zip tied to your Google account and time zone on your phone is another.

      Google will need to eventually provide some type of secure push a notification to ask, "Hey are you in the UK now? Cool, try this app." If that is what you want....
