Alex Gleason (alex@gleasonator.com)'s status on Friday, 08-Dec-2023 04:32:52 JST Alex Gleason As I'm replacing outlets in my house, I notice they're completely soaked with paint. It's like they took all the covers off and just hosed the inside of every outlet with paint. I'm scraping paint off the wires. It's no wonder one of the outlets started smoking and nearly caught on fire. Also, the GFCI outlet in the bathroom was installed halfway reversed, so that in no orientation could it possibly ever make sense, and it took a lot of bravery to decide that I knew better than whoever installed it when I fixed it. -

Curtis Rock, SkD (curtis@social.teci.world)'s status on Friday, 08-Dec-2023 04:59:04 JST Curtis Rock, SkD @alex One cause of fires is loosely connected fixture wires. For example, if you turn on a light switch and a light intermittently doesn’t turn on, it is likely a loose wire. With an active circuit under a load, a loose wire can create an arc.
