     @Moon@shitposter.club Which I don't want, and even if it began to approach that level it wouldn't matter because it would be centralized platforms like Meta Threads or BlueSky or some other large corporate AP-compatible service. And these services would absolutely just block out the wider Fediverse anyway.

     @caekislove it doesn't require a fundamental redesign, it just needs to add a property to allow you to delegate a websub syndication hub (gnu social had this). does require signing but I think that's already possible.

     @Moon I doubt activitypub could scale up that much without a fundemental redesign. Already the server gets clobbered with thousands of requests every time a well-followed accounts interacts with or posts anything.

     i have limited interest in discussing with people that only see the web as a commodity

     @NeonPurpleStar yeah I don't see growth for its own sake as good. we should lower technical barriers to entry and then welcome people when they come but I am not interested in promoting it to people that largely don't care about it.

     Fedi will outlive blue chip social media due to its federation. Email is a dogshit protocol, and yet people still use it, because there’s no central server to turn email off. Such is so here as well. All these commercial services, like Skype or ICQ or whatever, they all die. But federated services, even dogshit ones, they survive basically forever.
